Hoffman is senior vice president and chief economist for The PNC \n\nFinancial Services Group serving as the principal spokesperson on all \n\neconomic issues for PNC. Hoffman has been recognized as one of the most\n\naccurate economic and interest rate forecasters in the prestigious Wall \n\nStreet Journal economic survey covering the 1988 to 2014 period. \n\n\n\nHoffman joined PNC in 1980 after a six-year tenure with the Federal \n\nReserve Bank of Atlanta. He became vice president and senior economist \n\nfor PNC in 1987 and was elected senior vice president and chief economist \n\nin 1991. \n\n\n\nHe is frequently quoted in The Wall Street Journal\, The New York Times\, \n\nFinancial Times and Barron's. He is a regular guest on CNBC and \n\nBloomberg TV. In addition\, he is regularly interviewed by the Associated \n\nPress and Reuter's news wire services and NPR. \n\n\n\nHoffman is past president and lifetime member of the American Bankers \n\nEconomic Advisory Committee\, which meets regularly with the Federal \n\nReserve Board of Governors chaired by Janet Yellen. He also serves on the\n\nboard of directors of The Economic Club of Pittsburgh - the local chapter of \n\nNational Association for Business Economics (NABE). Hoffman is a past \n\npresident of the National Association for Business Economics. \n\n\n\nHoffman is a 1971 graduate of Pennsylvania State University. He received a \n\nmaster's degree in 1973 and a doctorate degree in economics in 1975\, both\n\nfrom the University of Cincinnati\, where he was a Charles Phelps Taft \n\nMemorial Fellow. In 2004\, the University of Cincinnati honored him as a \n\nDistinguished Alumnus and in 2011 presented him with The Carl Lindner \n\nAward for Outstanding Business Achievement.
