Both will be recognized at a gala event and dinner at Gaston Country Club.\n\n\n\nThe Spirit of the Carolinas award is designed to honor a business leader or manufacturer in Gaston County as a way to honor the individual behind the success of the company who has demonstrated one or more of the following attributes on a local\, state\, or national level: Commitment and success within the free enterprise system\; Leadership within their particular industry\; Citizenship within their community\n\n.\n\nThe Spirit of the Economy award is presented to a company or individual contributing to the overall economic development efforts in Gaston County and North Carolina.\n\n\n\nThe 2016 Athena Award recipient\, Gayle Kersh\, will also be honored at this event and is sponsored by Park Sterling Bank.
